HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
Urine pH is an indicator of the acidity or alkalinity of the urine, and provides information about our body’s general state of health. The average pH value is around 6.2. However, due to its oscillating behaviour, it may vary from 4.5 to 8, depending largely on diet, waste products, metabolic disorders and other causes.
Urine pH is an emerging factor in daily clinical practice as it is related to a variety of chronic urological conditions, such as renal stone, calcification of urinary stents, urinary infection, overactive bladder and painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis.
There are currently two options to control urine pH: using a test strip or a laboratory pH-meter. The first are broadly questioned by the medical community for their low accuracy and reliability for making clinical decisions; while the second lacks the portability necessary for the urine pH measurement to be taken on fresh urine that has been recently passed, which has the physiological value.
Lit-Control is a family of innovative products for handling the urine pH. It comprises a medical device that allows the measurement of urine pH (Lit-Control pH Meter) and three food supplements (Lit-Control pH Up/Down/Balance) which allow the urinary health to be maintained through the acid-base balance of the urine.
Urine pH is a measurement of its acidity and reflects the metabolic activity of the body, and monitoring this is as important as its correction, especially in certain situations in which this balance and the maintenance of health may be disrupted, and could induce: the formation of kidney stones, infections of the urinary tract, painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis and overactive bladder, calcification of urinary stents or urinary catheters, etc.
- If there are crystals in the urine, and the urine pH is above 6.2, the conditions are conducive to the formation of infection-induced or calcium phosphate stones, or calcium oxalate stones induced by calcium phosphate.
- If there are crystals in the urine, and the urine pH is below 5.5, the conditions are conducive to the formation of cystine, uric acid or calcium oxalate stones induced by uric acid.
- In certain situations, or without a change of the pH, the simple existence of crystals and the lack of physiological inhibitors to this crystallisation, could induce the formation of kidney stones
A correct control of the urine pH will reduce the risk of the formation of kidney stones.
After fitting a urinary catheter or double j stent, a urinary infection tends to appear that in most cases can lead to an alkaline urine.
If the infection persists, thanks, among other things, to the presence of crystals in the urine, and an alkaline pH, it could have an impact on the calcification of the stent or catheter, even going as far as to obstruct it and in some cases make it difficult to remove.
It has been observed that most micro-organisms responsible for the urine infection grow in a urine with alkaline pH. A urine with an acid pH makes it difficult for these micro-organisms to grow and survive.
It has been observed that painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis are associated with changes to the acid levels of the urine pH and with painful manifestations in the bladder or pelvis, which may also present urinary symptoms, such as an increase in the frequency of urinations and the urgency of the same. Symptoms that are also related with overactive bladder syndrome, also influenced by an acidic urine pHand defined mainly by urinary urgency.
Lit-Control pH Up is a food supplement specifically formulated and developed to inhibit the crystallisation of urinary salts and increase the urine pH (alkalinisation effect) and thus avoid the complications that may derive from a disturbance in the acid-base balance of the urine that changes in certain circumstances, such as: propensity to the formation of kidney stones or tendency towards urinary discomforts related to urinary syndromes
- Composition: Potassium citrate, Magnesium citrate, Theobromine, Zinc and Vitamin A.
Lit-Control pH Down is a food supplement specifically formulated and developed to inhibit the crystallisation of urinary salts and reduce the pH (acidification effect) and thus avoid the complications that may derive from a disturbance in the acid-base balance of the urine that changes in certain circumstances, such as:propensity to the formation of kidney stones, propensity towards the appearance of urinary infections, or people wearing urinary stents or catheters.
- Composition: Phytate, L-Methionine, Zinc and Vitamin A.
Lit-Control pH Balance is a food supplement specifically formulated and developed to inhibit the crystallisation of urinary salts, without affecting the urine pH, thus avoiding the complications that may derive from a disturbance in the acid-base balance of the urine. Also, thanks to the action of the antioxidants, this helps to maintain the kidney's health, which may change in certain circumstances, such as: propensity towards the formation of kidney stones without changing the pH or being unaware of the same, or urological procedures such as lithotripsy or others.
- Composition: Phytate, Magnesium and Polyphenols
The usual recommendation for Lit-Control food supplements is 2 capsules a day, in the morning and at night, together with a glass of water. Its effect can be monitored with Lit-Control pH Meter. If, in any case, the recommendation of 2 capsules a day is considered to be insufficient to enter the desired pH range, this maybe increased to a maximum of 6 capsules a day.
The usual duration for the consumption of food supplements is 4 months. This duration may be prolonged under medical supervision.
The Lit-Control food supplements are prepared using plant extracts and natural or animal components. They do not contain lactose.
No side effects have been observed.
No interactions with medicines have been observed.
Lit-Control pH Meter is the world's leading medical device for self-diagnosis to control urine pH. It is indicated for the simple and accurate monitoring at home in the event of certain urological disorders.
- Indications: Lit-Control pH Meter is indicated under medical prescription for the control of those alkalising and acidifying urinary treatments for which the patient must remain within a certain range. It also allows a frequent record to be obtained of the patient’s urine pH and the treatment doses to be adjusted according to needs
